Los Angeles singer-songwriter Georgia Chess returns with her newest single “Girls Like Us”, set to release on December 3rd, 2026. The song marks her first release since her 2025 debut album, Out the Hat, and features her signature blend of vintage pop, modern rock, and abstract lyricism. To accompany this release, an official music video filmed and directed by Georgia will premiere on YouTube on December 16th.
“Girls Like Us” catalogs the longing and confusion of the unpredictability of romance. Backdropped by lush guitars and droning cellos, the lyrics detail Chess’s feelings of frustration and sadness. “But when it comes down to a quick wit/Well, a quick wit has got no use” sings Chess, “Cuz girls like us know everything/Till we meet a smart-ass like you”
“I’ve always found romantic relationships to be a bit confusing,” says Chess. “It’s the one thing that’s not really quantifiable compared to everything else in life. And I think that confused feeling becomes really heightened when you have really intense feelings for someone who’s hard to read. So this song was my way of expressing that kind of despair of ‘I really really like you, but I can’t understand you.’ It’s difficult to know what to do in that kind of situation.”
The track was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, UK, as well as Chess’s home studio in Los Angeles, California. Written and arranged by Georgia, the track was produced by Nadia Lee and Django Beaudoin, Chess’s close friends and long-time collaborators. All instrumentation was performed and recorded by Chess herself, with the exception of drums performed by Beaudoin and recorded by Richa Boppuri, and cellos recorded and performed by Nadia Lee.
All of Georgia’s releases, including “Girls Like Us”, can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms.
