About

Georgia Chess, woman-out-of-time, is restless in modernity.  A Los Angeles native and music-school dropout, she folds her 1960s stylings into her art-rock sensibilities, building rockabilly wonderlands nestled somewhere between Connie Francis and the Arctic Monkeys. Channeling the emotional candor and dark grime of 90s songwriters like Fiona Apple and Elliot Smith, Chess writes songs steeped in frustrated femininity, songs that ache and seethe with obsession and hushed indignation. On her 2025 debut Out the Hat, distorted guitar, complex harmonies, and ornate wordplay trumpet the arrival of an artist who refuses to be polite or easy to ignore.
